  • Educational Qualification: Candidate must hold a Bachelor's degree from a recognized university or an equivalent qualification.
  • Age Limit: Generally, candidates must be between 21 to 32 years of age as of August 1 of the exam year; age relaxations apply for reserved categories.
  • Nationality: Must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanent settlement.

  • Mode of Exam: Online (Computer-Based Test) for Preliminary; Offline for Main exam.
  • Number of Questions: Preliminary consists of two papers (General Studies and Aptitude), each with multiple-choice questions; Main consists of nine papers including essay, language, and optional subjects.
  • Marking Scheme: Preliminary paper I has negative marking; Main exam is descriptive with marks assigned per paper.
