Eligibility Criteria

  • Educational Qualification: Candidates must possess an MBBS degree or Provisional MBBS Pass Certificate from a recognized university/institution.
  • Internship: Completion of one year of compulsory rotating internship on or before the date notified by the exam conducting body.
  • Nationality: Indian Nationals, NRIs, OCI, PIO and Foreign Nationals are eligible to apply.
  • Registration: Must be registered with the Medical Council of India or State Medical Council.
  • Age Limit: There is typically no upper age limit prescribed for this exam.

  • Mode of Exam: Computer Based Test (Online)
  • Number of Questions: Approximately 300 multiple choice questions (MCQs)
  • Marking Scheme: +4 marks for each correct answer, -1 mark for each wrong answer, 0 for unattempted questions.

    • Pre-Clinical Subjects (Anatomy, Physiology, Biochemistry)
    • Para-Clinical Subjects (Microbiology, Pathology, Pharmacology, Forensic Medicine, Social and Preventive Medicine)
    • Clinical Subjects (General Medicine, General Surgery, Obstetrics & Gynecology, Pediatrics, ENT, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, Anesthesia, Dermatology, Radiology, Psychiatry, etc.)
  • Exam Duration: 3 hours 30 minutes
  • When Held: Annually, usually in the month of January.
  • Notification Release: Generally announced in October or November prior to the exam.
