- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects from a recognized board.
- Minimum Marks: General category candidates need at least 50% marks in aggregate in PCB (Physics, Chemistry, Biology). For SC/ST/OBC candidates, the minimum required is 40%.
- Age Limit: Generally, candidates must be at least 17 years old as of December 31 of the admission year. There is usually an upper age limit of 25 years with some relaxation for reserved categories.

- Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, The s-Block Element, The p-Block Elements, The d- and f-Block Elements, The Coordination Compounds, Organic Chemistry including Purification and Characterization of Organic Compounds, Hydrocarbons, Environmental Chemistry.
- Biology: Diversity of Living Organisms, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and Environment.
