Eligibility Criteria
- Educational Qualification: Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology as compulsory subjects from a recognized board or institution. For engineering courses, candidates should have studied Mathematics; for medical courses, Biology is required.
- Age Limit: The minimum age requirement is 17 years as on December 31 of the admission year. There is no upper age limit.
- Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens. Special reservations and criteria may apply to Kerala state residents.

- Mode of Exam: Offline (Pen and Paper-based Test)
- Number of Questions: 120 questions each in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/Biology (depending on the course opted)
- Marking Scheme: Each correct answer carries 4 marks; 1 mark is deducted for each incorrect answer (negative marking).
- Subjects Covered: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics (for Engineering & Architecture applicants), and Biology (for Medical applicants)
- Exam Duration: 2 hours per paper
- When Held: The exam is usually conducted in April every year.

The KEAM syllabus is based on the Plus Two (12th standard) curriculum prescribed by the Kerala State Board and CBSE for Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, and Biology.
- Physics: Physical world and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Motion of System of Particles and Rigid Body, Gravitation, Properties of Bulk Matter, Thermodynamics, Behaviour of Perfect Gas and Kinetic Theory, Oscillations and Waves.
- Chemistry: Some Basic Concepts of Chemistry, Structure of Atom, Classification of Elements and Periodicity in Properties, Chemical Bonding and Molecular Structure, States of Matter: Gases and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Equilibrium, Redox Reactions, Hydrogen, The s-Block Element, The p-Block Element, The d-Block and f-Block Elements, The Organic Chemistry, The Solid State, The Solutions, The Electrochemistry, The Chemical Kinetics, The Surface Chemistry.
- Mathematics: Sets, Relations and Functions, Trigonometry, Complex Numbers, Quadratic Equations, Sequences and Series, Limits, Continuity and Differentiability, Integral Calculus, Differential Equations, Three Dimensional Geometry, Vector Algebra, Statistics and Probability.
- Biology: Diversity of Living Organisms, Structural Organisation in Animals and Plants, Cell Structure and Function, Plant Physiology, Human Physiology, Reproduction, Genetics and Evolution, Biology and Human Welfare, Biotechnology and Its Applications, Ecology and Environment.
