Eligibility Criteria
Eligibility Criteria for UPSC Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service
- Nationality: Candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal/Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came to India before January 1, 1962, with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India.
- Educational Qualification:
- For Indian Economic Service (IES): A post-graduate degree in Economics or Applied Economics or Business Economics or Econometrics from a recognized university.
- For Indian Statistical Service (ISS): A Bachelor's degree with Statistics or Mathematics as a subject for at least 2 papers or 300 marks, or a post-graduate degree in Statistics or Mathematics or Applied Statistics or Quantitative Economics or Econometrics or Mathematical Economics or Operations Research or Business Mathematics or Mathematical Statistics from a recognized university.
- Age Limit: Typically, candidates must be between 21 and 30 years of age on August 1 of the exam year. Age relaxation is applicable to reserved categories as per government norms.
Exam Pattern
Exam Pattern for UPSC Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service
- Mode of Exam: Written examination followed by an Interview (Personality Test). The written exam is conducted offline (pen and paper).
