Dr HS Gour University invites applications for admission to M.Phil/Ph.D
programme in following subjects through entrance test; Philosophy (10
seats), Sociology (10 seats), English (8 seats), Hindi (20 seats)
For Entrance Examination there would be two papers i.e. Paper I and Paper II and an Interview by Committee Composed of Dean and DPGC.
The interview is conducted out of 50 marks.
Paper I General Aptitude test of 50 questions with 100 marks (Applicable to all candidates offering any subject areas) .
Standard of passing: Mandatory to score minimum 50% marks for General and 45% for SC/ST/PH/VH category.
Paper will contain 50 objective MCQ type questions covering Logical Reasoning, Numerical Ability, Reasoning and Language Aptitude, Aptitude Test, General information on General Knowledge and its interface with society, candidate's awareness of scientific and quantitative reasoning aptitude, analytical approach etc. Questions would be so designed to judge the creativity, analytical ability, reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking, general awareness and research aptitude of a candidate, Common elementary computer science, a few questions dealing with basic computer awareness and uses, programming instructions and simple algorithms, computational methods.
Paper 2 Subject Specific Test: This paper will be of 200 marks consisting of 100 objective (MCQ) type questions covering relevant subject in the faculty.
M.Phil.
Eligibility: The candidates willing to take admission to M.Phil program, should have following qualification
Qualifications: Candidates
who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding off)/6.0 CGPA
in (0-9) Ten point grade scale, for General and OBC (NCL), in Master’s
degree or equivalent examination from Universities/Institutes
recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the entrance test SC/ST/PH/VH category students who have secured 50%
marks (without rounding off)/5.0 CGPA in (0-9) ten point grade scale, in
the Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test
Age Limit:
Maximum upto 28 years as on 01st July, 2012 upper age limit may be
relaxed upto five years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC
(non creamy layer)/PH, VH and Female
The admission would be given on the basis of merit
only, evaluating the performance of the candidate in the interview
conducted by the department concerned Ph.D Qualification:
Candidates who have secured at least 55% marks (without rounding

creamy layer), in Master’s degree or equivalent examination from
universities/institutes recognized by UGC are eligible to appear in the

Master’s degree or equivalent are eligible to appear in the test
The candidate studying in the last semester of the
qualifying examination may also apply, but he/she must have to produce
final result before the date of interview, failing which his/her
candidature will automatically stand cancelled
Age Limit: Upper age limit is 28 years as on 01st July, 2012
There is a relaxation in upper age limit up to 5
years in case of candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (non creamy
layer)/PH/VH and Female candidates
There is a relaxation of 3 years in upper age limit for LL.M candidates
There is no upper age limit for NET qualified candidates
